Ladies dressed in their carnival costumes with masks  by Franz     Venice is one of the most enchanting and romantic cities in the world. It's a place like no other, built on a group of 118 small islands connected by canals and bridges. No roads, just sweeping waterways. As you arrive in Venice, whether by water taxi, gondola, or cruise ship, the sight of this floating city is breath-taking. Colourful buildings rise from the shimmering blue waters of the lagoon like a vision from the past. My first gondola ride was a sensory delight, as I lazily floated under bridges and past magnificent palaces and churches while my gondolier sang traditional love songs. It's the quintessential Venetian experience. P
